Senior Database Administrator, Microsoft SQL

Job Description: The Senior Database Administrator position is an analytical and highly hands-on position providing: enterprise database administration, standardization, database operations enhancements, as well as hands-on technical control over client data and resources.  This person will work with a high performance and technical team responsible for migrating web applications into the cloud.

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience as an MS SQL Server Database Administrator in a mission critical SQL 2008-2012 shared platform environment Design and implement database administration standards that include: security, standardization, availability/fault-tolerance, monitoring/alerting, and performance optimization.
  • Management of large transactional database systems (multiples of hundreds of GBs in size)
  • High availability and recoverability of databases in 24/7 environment by using clustering, replication, mirroring, log shipping, backup and restore to meet RTO/RPO objectives.
  • Experience of platform migration/upgrade projects to latest versions of SQL Server (SQL 2008 / 2008 R2 to SQL 2012 and 2014).
  • Strong command of performance tuning and proven experience in troubleshooting application performance problems (Indexing, Optimizer, server configuration, Profiler, DMV etc) including TSQL programming and debugging skills.
  • Experience with Migration of database services to Cloud (e.g, Amazon, Azure, Rackspace)
  • Supports Senior DBA in fulfilling technical requests for information.
  • Experience with SQL Encryption methodologies (at-rest, table-level, etc) MANDATORY


Job Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server solution stack (ex..RDBMS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, TSQL).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft OS platform technologies (Windows Server 2008R2 and above)
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility for the security and reliability of managed areas of responsibility.
  • and IaaS solutions a plus.
  • BA or BS degree in a Technical discipline or equivalent training and experience.
  • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database management and administration experience
  • Extensive hands-on installation and management of large, complex SQL Server database environments. Direct experience with SQL Server 2008 and above is expected.
  • Experience with SQL policy management
  • US Citizen
  • Security Clearance (preferred)
  • Background check will be performed.
  • Experience working with and integrating Cloud based SaaS.
  • Knowledge/experience with FEDRAMP environments a plus.
